DUAL CREDIT

The links at the bottom of this page offer extra resources you need to help understand dual credit and walk you through the process towards qualification.  Also, refer to the LSC Tomball website: Lonestar.edu/TomballDualCredit

Any Seniors in dual credit this year must send an official transcript to all colleges to which you are applying. Click on the link below. Your 7 digit LSC ID # is required or you must know your Social Security #.   If you don't know either, you must contact the Lone Star College Registrar's Office. The fee is $9 per transcript.

What is Dual Credit?

  • It is an agreement between a college and high school that allows students to earn both high school and college credit.
  • Staff members must have a masters degree plus 18 hours in the subject area in order to teacher dual credit courses.
  • Students must meet the college's entrance requirements to take dual credit courses.
  • The students take the course(s) on the high school campus during the regular school day.

What are the benefits of Dual Credit?

  • Students challenge themselves, gaining experience with a college level course.
  • Students receive both high school and college credit from the local community college.
  • College of choice may also grant college credit toward their graduation requirements, depending upon the major.

***A student who makes a "D" or below in a Dual Credit course is disqualified from the Dual Credit program and cannot take any more courses beyond that semester.

Dual Credit Information Night Meeting:

Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in The Commons (this is following the Information Session about course selections)

Students choose their courses for the 2018-2019 year after Christmas vacation.  A student who marks a dual credit class(es) on that course selection sheet is stating he/she is interested in learning about the qualification process.  This informational meeting in January is mandatory for those students/parents.  Students currently taking dual credit and who do NOT need to re-test for the next school year need not attend. If the student needs to re-test, attendance is necessary.

Dual Credit Admissions & Qualification Process on the CLHS Campus:  TBD (In February)

  • Informational Meeting is taking place in The Gym for students only.  Check-in is at 7:15 AM.  Meeting starts promptly at 7:30 AM. LSC Representatives will be on campus.
  • At the informational meeting, students will receive a sheet with instructions and a schedule for the day as to which period they will report to the Guidance Office to put in application.
  • If students have SAT or ACT qualifying scores, bring those to Ms. Brennan during scheduled time.
  • Students' first college application will be put in to LSC Tomball (representatives will be assisting students).  Once the application is complete, students will receive their 7 digit LSC ID# and username and password.
  • If time allows, students will be asked to complete the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA).  This is a 10 minute video students are required to watch about the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) test.  To access the link, students go to their MyLoneStar Account.   Go to https://my.lonestar.edu/psp/porprd/EMPLOYEE/EMPL/h/?tab=LOGIN.  Put in the Username given and reset password. If students have problems finding the PAA, please see Ms. Brennan ASAP.  The PAA needs to be completed a week prior to testing day so LSC has accurate numbers of who will be testing so they can prepare for us.
  • Once the application is completed, students must see an LSC Advisor to receive a green testing ticket.
