State law requires that students be in attendance for 90% of classes in a semester to earn credit for a course. A student should never be absent unless it is absolutely necessary. When a student is not present in class, the absence will be coded as “Absent” unless the student misses for a school activity, a funeral, or for specific reasons that have been discussed and cleared by the Administration.
A CLHS student that is absent for more than 10% of the class periods during a semester will be in danger of losing academic credit for that class. Once a student reaches 5 absences, CLHS will be in communication with the family of the student. Then, if the student exceeds eight (8) absences in a course, the student will begin our discipline process that is outlined in the Student Handbook.
