Concordia Accepts Grant Funding from Tomball Regional Health Foundation

Concordia is grateful and excited to announce this year’s partnership from the Tomball Regional Health Foundation (TRHF) with a grant of $26,088.00 for many initiatives in the 2022-2023 school year. We value support from our community partners, especially those that help offset costs not covered through federal funding since CLHS is a private school.

This is the sixth consecutive year that the TRHF has supported Concordia’s ministry, totaling more than $100,000 in that timespan. The 2022-2023 grant specifically is funding three areas of need for Concordia: Mental Health Initiatives, School Safety Programs, and Substance Abuse and Vape Prevention.

On the docket for the mental health program for this school year, Concordia will be hosting several events for our students, staff, parents, and community to attend for free, with speakers from around the country. Student self-defense classes, mental health and anxiety tools for the counseling office, suicide intervention training for staff members, and supporting the work of Saders Joined for Hope (SJH) on campus are all part of the grant funding.

Jeffrey Klein, CEO for TRHF, shared, “We are very pleased to work with Concordia on the mental health needs for their students and the community at large. We appreciate their willingness to share these speakers with the community by inviting everyone to attend, not just Concordia families, as mental health is something that affects everyone.”

All upcoming community events for parents will be shared on our school’s Facebook page (fb.com/ConcordiaTomball) and guests are always welcome to attend.

In addition to the mental health initiatives, school safety programs such as staff CPR/AED/First Aid Training will be provided to all 70+ of Concordia’s employees this school year. Finally, substance abuse and vape prevention is a key piece of this year’s grant. Monthly random student drug testing sessions, quarterly narcotics canine visits, alcohol breathalyzer mouthpieces for school dances/functions, and vape detection devices to be installed in restrooms are all key pieces to help encourage our students to make healthy decisions in these volatile teen years.
