Concordia Head of School, Mr. Bode, Announces Retirement at School Year’s End

At the beginning of November, Concordia’s Board of Directors shared their deepest appreciation for Joel Bode and his service as Head of School as they announced his retirement from this position effective at the end of the 2022-2023 school year, on July 31, 2023.

Bode’s career includes 13 years serving in roles as an educator and administrator prior to Concordia. He joined the Concordia family in 1999 as Assistant Principal and served as Principal before his promotion to the position of Head of School, from which he served the last 12 years.

Concordia has been blessed in so many ways under Bode’s leadership. He has added to the success of the school’s mission with an increase in student enrollment of over 40%. Bode’s time as Head of School has been highlighted with several state and national recognitions in academics, athletics, and fine arts, including TAPPS Henderson Cup Champion in 2011, 2017 and 2019. These recognitions are just a few examples of the opportunity he helped create for the success of so many students as illustrated by 100+ state championships in individual events, 38 state championships in team events, and acceptances to countless colleges and universities. These are just a few examples of his commitment of and success at Building Lives of Excellence Upon the Foundation of Christ

Additionally, Bode has guided Concordia through several capital improvements, including the construction of the science wing in 2015 and improvements to the stadium complex in 2019. Over the last year, he has been active in leading the planning phase of Concordia’s next campaign to launch in 2023.

“I have been blessed far beyond any expectations during my 24 years at Concordia. Those blessings include students, parents, faculty, staff, and all of the board members I have had the privilege of walking with in this ministry we share. It is difficult to put into words how much appreciation I have for this opportunity, and I look forward to the next phase for Concordia trusting God already has chosen the perfect candidate chosen for the school.” – Joel Bode

Bode’s leadership has made Concordia what it is today. Although he will be greatly missed, his influence at Concordia will remain. Let us give thanks to God for Joel’s 24 years at Concordia and all the blessings that accompanied them!
