Claire Andrews and Madison Price Named as Concordia’s Valedictorian and Salutatorian for 2023

The Concordia Lutheran High School Class of 2023’s Valedictorian is Claire Andrews and the Salutatorian is Madison Price.

What does it take to earn these titles? A lot of time spent studying, taking upper-level CAPP, AP, and DC classes, and earning A’s. These young women have dedicated their time using their God-given talents to give back to this school through sports, organizations, and volunteering.

 

Valedictorian: Claire Andrews

While taking 20 upper-level classes and earning an A in each of them, Claire Andrews earned the highest ranking in the Class of 2023 with a GPA of 4.7200. Through Concordia’s dual credit program, she accumulated 25 college credit hours and took nine AP classes also earning her possible college credits.

Achievements, Awards and Activities:

  • College Board AP Scholar
  • 4-year Academic Letter
  • Member of National Honor Society for two years and served as the Service Coordinator her senior year.
  • Member of Student Council and served as the Class President her senior year.
  • Participated in National Charity League since 2017 and served as the Vice President of Philanthropy for her chapter.
  • Claire has enjoyed serving her community at the Abandoned Animal Rescue (AAR) in Tomball as a play friend with dogs.
  • She also has served as a buddy that helps kids with special needs through the Miracle League with the YMCA.
  • For two years, she has worked as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee at Express Pharmacy.

What are your future plans? (college, major, future career, etc.)

Claire has been accepted to Auburn, Baylor, Samford, SMU, and TCU. She is still waiting on Rice University, which is her school of choice. She plans to major in Biomedical Engineering and one day work in a research lab developing medical devices that will solve issues relating to human health.

What was your favorite memory from Concordia?

Having a Great Gatsby Valentine’s Day party in Mrs. O’Neill’s class.

  

Salutatorian: Madison Price

Earning the second highest ranking in the Class of 2023 with a GPA of 4.6667, Madison Price completed 20 upper-level classes with an A in every one of them. She departs Concordia having amassed 22 college credit hours earned through the dual credit program and took nine AP classes also earning her possible college credits.

Achievements, Awards, and Activities:

  • College Board AP Scholar
  • 4-year Academic Letter
  • Excellence in Math Award given her senior year from the Math Department Faculty.
  • Member of National Honor Society for two years and served as the Attendance Secretary her senior year.
  • Member of Student Council for 4 years and served as a leader each year including Student Body President her senior year.
  • Member of the Varsity Girls Soccer team for 4 years and served as captain her senior year.
  • Concordia Female Scholar Athlete of the Year 2022-2023
  • Girls Soccer Crusader Award 2022-2023 for her display of character, integrity, faith, selflessness, and perseverance.
  • Served as one of the Admissions Office Tour Guide her junior and senior years.
  • Served as the Guidance Office Student Aide her senior year.
  • Participated in National Charity League since 2017 and served as the President of her chapter.

What are your future plans? (college, major, future career, etc.)

Madison has been accepted to Baylor, TCU Honors College, and University of Texas (Austin). She is waiting to hear from Vanderbilt and University of Virginia. Madison will most likely attend TCU and she has been selected as a Dean’s Scholar as well as being selected as a finalist for the Chancellor’s Scholarship, a full tuition award. She plans to major in Neuroscience with a minor in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Studies (COMD). Her future plan is to attend medical school and become a Pediatric Neurosurgeon to give back to the community that she has become so familiar with while growing up.

What was your favorite memory from Concordia?

Mr. Straub’s AP World History class making cinnamon roll waffles and Mrs. Levy’s Spanish 3 CAPP class fiestas.
