Matthew Schleicher graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin (Mequon) in December of 2001. He immediately took a teaching position at Trinity Lutheran School in Tinley Park, Illinois. While at Trinity, Mr. Schleicher was one of the 7th grade homeroom teachers and taught all of the middle school science classes. The next year, Mr. Schleicher began using his secondary education training by moving to the Detroit, Michigan area to teach and coach soccer at Lutheran High School Northwest (Rochester Hills, MI). Mr. Schleicher taught both on-level and Advanced Placement Biology during each of his four years in Michigan. Starting with the 2006-2007 school year, Mr. Schleicher joined the ministry team at CLHS. While teaching on-level and AP Biology as well as Anatomy & Physiology courses at Concordia, Schleicher earned his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University Nebraska (December, 2007). Mr. Schleicher has served as the Assistant Principal since July, 2008. Matthew and his wife, Kim, have three sons: Ian (age 5), and Ryan (age 2), and Nathan (born in November, 2014).

What do you love about Concordia Lutheran High School, and why are you here?

I feel extremely blessed to be able to serve the Lord at Concordia.  I love the relational ministry that exists in this place.  I love working through various situations with students, including those times when they have made errors in judgment and/or didn't think before they acted.  I enjoy getting to know what really interests each student, and I am constantly in awe of how the Lord has richly blessed each of our students.  Even though I have had opportunities to leave CLHS and serve in administration in other Lutheran high schools across the country, I feel that the Lord has more for me to do here right now.  I am a raving fan of Concordia Lutheran High School!

What do you love about Jesus?

I love that Jesus meets you where you are.  When I am having a good day, He is seemingly cheering me on from the sidelines while clearing the path at the same time.  When I am struggling or having a really rocky day, I rest in the fact that Jesus promises to never leave me or give me more than I can handle with His strength.  I love that Jesus wants to live inside of each person that I get a chance to interact with.  I am humbled by the fact that Jesus died for me and my unworthiness.

When I have free time I enjoy...

playing board games and card games, travelling, listening to audio books on CD as I travel to/from CLHS, and spending time with my family (Kim, Ian, and Ryan).  I also enjoy watching Castle, Prison Break, and The Middle episodes.
